CUPID’S JIVE
San Diego Wine & Culinary Center

Presented by the connoisseurs of creativity over at Sanctuary Gallery, Cupid’s Jive will be a collision of art, dance and decade-defining culture. Hosted in a 7000 square foot venue, San Diego’s very own Chris Elliman will design a dreamy rendition of the 1940’s that’ll atmospherically scream romance better than Cupid himself. Set in the pin-up girl era, an array of nostalgic performances will include a burlesque show, a pin-up fashion show and swing dance lessons by fully costumed fat cats. Sweep that Valentine off her feet to the era-defining beats of the Zzymzzy Quartet and witness the work of San Diego’s finest artists in a massive 26-foot long collaborative painting. This Valentine’s Day jive is sure to attract elites of the local art and fashion world, proving effortlessly that art and culture are essential ingredients to every timeless romance. Starts at 8 p.m. on February 14.

A Swingin’ Art Event

Saturday February 14th, 2009
8 pm -2 am

Please join us for this very special Red Carpet Event. Dance to the swingin’ sounds of the Zzymzzy Quartet, with a special performance by the Firehouse Swing Dance Company. Led by guitarist Beston Barnett, the Zzymzzy Quartet plays 30’s/40’s traditional jazz & swing standards in a smooth style reminiscent of the Benny Goodman Quartet.

Doors open at 8 pm. We’ve got a complimentary swing dance lesson until 9 pm followed by live music from the Zzymzzy Quartet from 9 pm 11. Don’t by shy as we will have professional dance partners available the entire night. Take a break and watch as Pin-Up fashion models, provided by The Rubber Rose, showcase the “bedroom accoutrements” this sexy little boutique is known for. After-hours Sultry Swing & Dirrty Blues music provided by DJ Sage.
